SecSign ID Plugin: Drupal

Use SecSign ID Drupal two-factor authentication on your Drupal site with an easy and highly secure user login using iOS or Android mobile devices as well as for desktop use.

SecSign ID is a plugin for real two-factor authentication (2FA) for Drupal sites. 2FA adds another layer of security to your website by using a second token. Installation

Installation of the plugin

  1. Unzip the downloaded file and copy the folder “secsign” to Drupal_root/sites/all/modules.
  2. Log into Drupal and click on “Modules”.
    Scroll down and enable the secsign module,
    save your configuration.
  3. To activate the login block go to “Structure > Blocks” and search for “SecSign ID Login” in the “Disabled” section.
  4. Choose the section you want to display the SecSign ID login form, for example “Sidebar first” and save the configuration.

To use the SecSign ID Drupal two factor authentication, you need to assign a SecSign ID to your user profile.

  1. Log into Drupal and go to “People”.Click on your username, your profile page should appear.
  2. Click on the “SecSign ID” tab and assign your SecSign ID to your
    profile to allow Drupal two factor authentication with SecSign ID.

Module Configuration

Module Configuration

The configuration page lets you manage the plugin behavior for the login process. Log into Drupal and go to “Modules > secsign > Configure”. You are going to find the following options:

Service name: The name of this web site as it shall be displayed on the user’s smart phone.

Frontend Layout: Change the layout of the SecSign ID login form (frame and box-shadow)

Password Login: Enables the Drupal password login inside the SecSign ID plugin

Login Redirection Page: Select the page the user will be redirected to after a successful login. Select from all the pages listed in the dropdown menu. Choosing “Default” will return to the same page.

Logout Redirection Page: Select the page the user will be redirected to after successfully ending their current session by logging out. Select from all the pages listed in the dropdown menu. Choosing “Default” will return to the same page.

Show Greeting: Show or hide the simple greeting text.

Show Name/Username: Displays the Drupal name or username after login.

Troubleshooting

If you disabled the Drupal password login and forgot your SecSign ID or lost your smartphone, do the following to gain access to your Drupal site:
  1. Log-in with the build-in Drupal password login
    • open YOUR_DRUPAL _URL/user to open the Drupal login form
    • login with your credentials and follow the steps described in #2
  2. Or change your SecSign ID in the database
    • Open your SQL database via console or phpmyadmin, which contains all the data from your Drupal installation. (Not sure? Open your Drupal directory via FTP and open the file sites/default/settings.php and search for $databases)
    • Open the table secsign and update the SecSign ID next to your username
